A state-of-the-art multipurpose facility owned by the University of Massachusetts Lowell, the Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell is conveniently located in the heart of historic Lowell adjacent to the campus and research facilities. The greater Boston and New England technology corridor provides an exceptional location for collaboration between small businesses, academic research, and Department of Defense agencies focused on research, development, and acquisition. The UMass Lowell Research Institute officially announced they were “open for business” in November 2018, however their roots run deep in linking core university capabilities with Department of Defense requirements. From early textile mills to the first plastics engineering department in the country, UMass Lowell is a premier research institution with a 100-year history developing what is possible. Conveniently located near Hanscom Air Force Base and key elements of the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, today the Research Institute focuses on bridging the gap between life-changing research and developing cutting-edge technology for our warfighters.
