The Navy fields complex, software-intensive systems undergoing constant, expensive modifications and upgrades. Source Lines of Code (SLOC) has been in use for decades to estimate software cost. However, SLOC based cost estimates have been shown to be widely variable in estimating overall costs. More reliable methods of cost estimation are required to minimize cost overruns. SimVentions’ unique experience in maintaining and re-hosting tens of millions of lines of code has enabled us to develop our Automated Function Point Analysis (AFPA) product which fuses traditional estimation methods with functional analysis and the mining of source code and documentation with Big Data techniques. This provides a more scientific and data driven methodology for performing software scope and cost estimation to help ensure programs of record are executable.
Integration of military applications is an expensive and cumbersome task. This software tool reduces integration time by allowing users to visually specify data mappings between applications, identify and resolve incompatibilities, and automatically generate executable software code. Additional exchange mechanisms and communications paradigms can be supported with plugins. Initial targets include avionics systems that operate with or in the Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACETM) ecosystem. Phase II has resulted in a product that is currently undergoing real world testing. SimVentions specializes in delivering innovative defense solutions centered on the company�s key theme of Imagine, Create, Explore, and Discover TM. Our goal is to deploy this product in government and prime contractor programs for facilitating FACE system integration.
